  • How to Use – Dried Root Preparation

    • Shave or crush a small piece of dried root (approx. ½ teaspoon)

    • Place in a jar or bowl with warm water

    • Whisk or stir until frothy (foam is key in traditional use)

    • Sip or swish the foam (some traditions spit, others swallow a small amount)

    • Best taken early morning or before bed on an empty stomach

     

    Note: You don’t need a full decoction—foam is traditionally seen as the “medicine.”

     

    For a single serving of Uvuma-omhlope tea using dried root, here’s a gentle and respectful guideline:

    • Uvuma-Omhlope Tea Use ½ teaspoon to 1 teaspoon of finely shaved or crushed dried root (approx. 1–2 grams)
    • Add to 1 cup (250 ml) of water
    • Simmer gently (don’t boil hard) for 10–20 minutes Strain and sip slowly before bed or during quiet time
